Simon Kohler – Founder & CEO

Simon has been involved in the models & hobbies industry and in particular model railways in one form or another for over 50 years. Forty of those years he was proud to be part of the Hornby Hobbies team, firstly as a salesman for H&M Systems and then as Hornby Brand Manager moving to Marketing Manager for Hornby railways. Along the way Simon handled the marketing of Scalextric, a multitude of soft toys as well as toys for boys and toys for girls. You could say he learnt his craft over many years which included good times and perhaps not such good times for Hornby, however through thick and thin he never lost his passion for Hornby as a company. In fact, it was more than a company to Simon, it was quite simply a way of life. It gave him strength and support as well as a huge amount of job satisfaction and a huge amount of varied experiences resulting in a fair amount of fun, laughs and unlimited work satisfaction, as well as the odd sleepless night. On his career journey with Hornby he was involved with many terrific projects including affordable digital control, great value sound decoders, Live Steam, Bluetooth train control and probably most important of all, Hornby TT:120 which was the realisation of a long held passion of his.
